Building a Bias-Resistant Process
Reducing bias takes intention. A few practical steps:
- Standardize assessments. Every candidate for a role should complete the same structured tasks.
- Blind scoring. Remove names and personal details during initial evaluation.
- Calibrate scoring. Use clear rubrics so multiple reviewers assess work consistently.
- Review patterns. Analyze who passes or fails — if certain groups consistently underperform, it’s a signal to review your test design, not the candidates.
